Michael Heim has dedicated his career to supporting first-generation college students from migrant and seasonal farmworker backgrounds in accessing and succeeding in higher education since 2004. A Pullman native and proud WSU alumnus, he is deeply committed to the mission of the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) and TRIO Student Support Services at Washington State University. He strongly believes these resilient and dedicated students deserve comprehensive support to achieve their academic dreams:

“It truly is a privilege to serve our CAMP and TRIO scholars and help them realize their educational goals.”

Michael currently teaches UNIV 104 and UNIV 101 courses for CAMP students at WSU and has presented extensively at national conferences on student success, academic coaching, advising practices, and the management and evaluation of federally funded grant programs. His historical research on the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) has been published in the Journal for Migrant Education, and his ongoing and future research focuses on retention and graduation outcomes for migrant/seasonal farmworker students, as well as evaluating the overall effectiveness of CAMP and TRIO Student Support Services projects.

He has served as a New Director Mentor/Coach for the National HEPCAMP Association, currently chairs the Marketing and Communications Committee, and is a member of the Historical Committee.

Outside of work, Michael loves soccer, believes green chile makes almost everything taste better, prefers Mexican Coca-Cola in 500 ml glass bottles, favors the color blue, enjoys action movies, and treasures Friday nights spent with his family.
